The victories of its student’s wing the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has given much needed boost to the sagging morale of the Congress party. The party after its humiliating loss in the State assembly elections earlier this year was in quandary. Apart from sweeping victories at the SGRR PG College the Congressmen were enthused by victories in the Jhonpur and Thatyud colleges on the day. The State Congress President Pritam Singh and leader of opposition Indira Hridayesh have congratulated winning candidates of NSUI. Singh hoped that the winning candidates would be at forefront in the fight for the interests of students in their respective candidates. In a statement, Hridayesh said that the victory of the NSUI candidates in the colleges of the State has instilled a new energy in the party organisation. She said that youth have a special place in the social and political scenario and the manner in which the politics of today is heading toward fulfilling ones personal interests, the youths have a potential to show a new direction to the politics.
Hridayesh said that the new generation is future of the country and the State. She said that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi gave a new dimension to the politics by giving the power to exercise their franchise and the youth of today should fulfill his dreams.
