The Rajya Andolankari Samman Parishad vice chairman Dhirendra Pratap has said that he will launch a ‘Soovar Maro, Bandar Bhagao’ campaign to save agriculture in the mountainous areas of the State from raiding wild boars and monkeys.

In a statement released to media on Tuesday, Pratap said that agriculture in mountainous regions can be saved only by undertaking a campaign to kill the wild boars and shoo away the simians. He stated, “The wild boars and monkeys have wreaked maximum damage on the agriculture in mountainous areas. A plan will be drafted for this soon after a meet with the chief minister Harish Rawat,” he added.

It is worth mentioning here that in order to mitigate human-wildlife conflict involving wild boars, the State Government has already declared that any farmer shooting a wild boar legally for being an agricultural pest will be reimbursed the bullet expense. Additionally, the State is also working on building a simian sterilization facility each in Garhwal and Kumaon regions.
