PNS

In a grim incident of wildlife poachers stopping at nothing to eliminate obstacles to their heinous trade, a Special Task Force (STF) Uttarakhand policeman was killed when a poacher fired shots at him in Uttarkashi on Wednesday night. The incident happened when an STF team was engaged in an operation at Dhantari area, around 40 km away from Uttarkashi.

Anant Yadav, who was shot at by a poacher, was taken to Uttarkashi district hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. Several teams from Tehri and Uttarkashi have been formed to conduct combing operations to nab the wildlife poachers.

The STF team had gone for the operation on Wednesday after  being tipped off about some wildlife poachers roaming around Dhantari area in Uttarakahi. The STF personnel, in plain clothes, had sealed the area.

As an STF police apprehended one of the poachers another poacher fired the shots at him and escaped. A seriously injured Anant Yadav was taken to the district hospital, Uttarakashi, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Jwalapur (Haridwar) resident Anant Yadav was recruited in the police department on October 11, 2001.  A graduate, he had worked in Dehradun. He was given the posting in the STF on August 18, 2014.  Senior police officers at the police lines condoled his death, saying that he was a brave cop, always ready to risk life for a worthy cause.
