Wildlife crimes: PFA may move HC against Govt

PNS

People For Animals, Uttarakhand has stated that it will have to approach the Uttarakhand High Court if the State government does not follow the directions of the HC and present a note to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat to enable him to take a decision regarding the serious  allegations leveled against the State principal chief conservator of forests.

In a letter written to the chief secretary Subhash Kumar, PFA Uttarakhand member secretary Gauri Maulekhi states, “In the PIl number 34/2013, the HC had directed that the principal secretary, Forests should prepare a note on the serious allegations of not taking action inspite of being informed about poaching and other wildlife crimes leveled against the PCCF. The CM was to take action in this case on the basis of this note. This direction was issued on May 15, 2014 and after that on being asked repeatedly, the principal secretary, Forests informed that after talk on the note with the CM, a vigilance inquiry had been ordered into the matter.”
