The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) will hold its Annual Research Seminar (ARS) on August 21. In conjunction, the institute will also be organising the first alumni meet of students and scholars who have obtained their Masters and PhD degrees on August 21 and 22.

The ARS has been an annual feature of the institute since 1987. It has proved to be a means of apprising participants on the Wildlife Institute of India’s research activities/programmes by way of seminar presentations by researchers and faculty members of the institute.

These presentations provide a platform for discussing the outcome of the institute’s research projects and its management implications with the stake holders, which include State Forest Department officials, members of various committees of the institute, eminent scientists and conservationists.

At the inaugural session on Thursday morning, the founder director of Wildlife Institute of India, HS Panwar will deliver the inaugural address while  Wildlife Institute of India Dean Dr PK Mathur will inform the gathering about the research activities and accomplishments of the institute after which various publications will be released.  later during the day, technical sessions will be held on ecological studies, conservation and development, long term research on large mammal and re-introduction and forensics in wildlife conservation and veterinary interventions.
