Wedding procession must have to be informed beforehand: SSP

PNS

A day after assuming charge as the SSP Dehradun, Sweety Aggarwal made it clear that they would not tolerate the wedding processions disrupting traffic on the city roads. In her first press conference after assuming charge, she said on Saturday that the heads of the families of both the brides and the grooms must inform police beforehand about the marriage processions to be taken. “We would act sternly if they disturb traffic.” She said. She further said that the police station officers would soon meet the owners of the wedding points and hotels where marriages are held aside from the bandwalas to make things clear to them.

She stressed on the traffic system being streamlined to reduce the problem of road congestion that has becoming a regular feature of the city.  She also said that the CPU constituted to regulate traffic in the city would not be sent outside the city under any circumstances. “The performance of CPU so far in reining in street crimes is satisfactory,” she said, adding that she would take steps to control accidents taking toll of human lives at regular intervals.

She laid emphasis on controlling jams at the railway crossings in consultation with the railway officials.
