The Education department is going to issue a warning letter to those teachers who have not joined their posts so far after being transferred under Uttarakhand Teachers Transfer Policy 2013 in the State. Teachers who have not joined their posts were seen making rounds of education directorate and putting pressure on education officers through political executives or office bearers of teachers associations to secure transfer to the place of their choice on medical grounds.  While talking to The Pioneer, School Education director Chandra Singh Gwal said that around 100 teachers were suspended for not joining their posts after being transferred under the policy. The district education officers have been directed to submit list of teachers who have not joined their posts under the policy to the education directorate. “We are going to issue a warning letters to such teachers directing them to join their assigned posts soon otherwise departmental action will be taken against them,” he added. A teacher visiting the directorate after not joining her post following transfer said, “I have not joined the school to which I was transferred as it is situated around 400 kilometers away from Dehradun. An office bearer of teacher association has assured me that I will secure transfer to the place of my choice on medical grounds.” In another development, the education department released promotion list of 260 license in Teaching (lT) teachers and lecturers to the post of headmaster in the state. Gwal said that in this list, a total of 55 per cent lT teachers and 45 per cent lecturers have been promoted to the post of headmaster on seniority basis.
