In order to make the voters aware of the importance of exercising franchise in a functioning democracy, the Election Commission in conjunction with different departments, agencies and organisations would host different voter awareness programmes on National Voter Day on January 25.
Joint chief electoral officer and additional secretary, Government of Uttarakhand Neeraj Khairwal instructed the officers of different industrial units to ensure that their workers take the oath of voting to mark the day. He instructed all the entrepreneurs and joint director Kaushalya Brothers to organise voter awareness programmes by holding camps at their respective industrial institutions. He said that all the formats are available on each booth and Election Department’s website www.ceo.uk.gov.in. Voters list can also be checked from this site.
Khairwal asked the entrepreneurs to ensure that no voter is deprived of his/her fundamental right to cast vote. He requested the owners of the industrial institutions to provide them with the detailed information of the workers changing addresses, making of new cards and the like.
