Vital for employees to enjoy work: Jyoti Tuteja

PNS

Human resource has been evolving a lot as a function in recent years with the search for talent heightening and causing organisations to look at HR more prominently than before. According to HR professional Jyoti Tuteja, in a recent survey done by the Society for Human Resource Management, the three biggest challenges facing HR executives over the next 10 years were stated to be retaining and rewarding the best employees, developing the next generation of corporate leaders and creating a corporate culture that attracts the best employees.

Tuteja opined that most of young people feel pressure at their workplace and land up spending time on non productive activities. She strongly believes that every employee must be positively engaged and experience work satisfaction. “This happens when they start spending time with the right people and start making happiness a daily priority. These days a lot of companies are flexible and open to employee needs like allowing them to follow flexible work schedule and tele-commuting. This really helps the professionals who are house wives and/or have small kids. On average, people spend 40 per cent of their waking hours at work, so it is vital that you’re spending that time doing something you enjoy,” she added.
