The Veterans’ Rally earlier scheduled on December 3 and 4 at Raiwala Military Station has now been rescheduled to December 7 and 8. The rally would be organised under the aegis of Garud Division of the Central Command the objective of which is to create awareness among the army veterans and the army widows about the latest welfare schemes rolled out by the Centre and the State Government.
The Veterans Rally is likely to be attended by some senior officers of the district and eminent persons besides the senior army officers.
A number of stalls would be put up during the rally from where the army veterans can collect information about the Pension Adalat dealing with their pension benefits, new pension schemes floated by various banks, Army Placement Node and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) and the like. The army veterans would have interactive sessions with the senior army officers during the event. This aside, a medical camp would be organised where services of the medical specialists would be made available for the veterans and their families.
The army officers said that a string of civil institutes is also being incorporated in the rally and added that the two-day event would end with cultural programmes. Elaborate and extensive arrangements are being made for the event, they said.
The army veterans and the army widows should carry all the necessary identification documents, including Pension Payment Order, at the rally so as to be able to derive full benefit from the event being hosted for their welfare, said the army officers.
