The newly appointed Chairman of State Backward Castes commission Ashok Verma assumed the office here on Monday.
Verma arrived at the office of commission with a large number of slogan shouting supporters. Immediately after assuming office Verma told The Pioneer that his first priority would be to ensure that the all the Government schemes for the welfare of the backward castes of the State are properly implemented and the people get the desired benefits from them.
He said that he is a normal Congress worker and has worked for the party for almost thirty five years. Senior congress workers of district Pramod Kumar Singh, RK Verma, lal Chand Sharma and Rajesh Sharma felicitated Verma who is the fifth chairman of the commission.
