Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat announced that the Vasantotsav held at Karnvashram would be included in the list of the Government festivals while participating in the festival there on Monday. Karnvashram is a renowned ashram for its mythological association with the fabled love affair involving Raja Dhusyant and Shakuntala and the birth of the Chakravarti Samrat Raja Bharat after whom Bharat, the country, is supposed to have been named.
CM further said that a museum would be established with an estimated amount of `10 crore in the old jail in Pauri in the memory of the legends like Chandra Singh Garhwali. He said that Kotdwar would see fast-paced development after the town becomes a nagar corporation.
Minister Harak Singh Rawat who is also an MlA from Kotdwar said that no stone would be left unturned to develop Kotdwar. Among others present were the Minister Dhan Singh Rawat, MlA lansdowne Dilip Singh Rawat, MlA Khajan Das, BJP district chief Shailendra Bisht, ADM Ramjee Sharan Sharma and additional superintendent of police Harish Verma.
