In order to enhance transparency and elicit public support in the execution of various works under Compensatory Afforestation Management Planning Authority (CAMPA) the Forest Department’s 24-hour centralised digital telephonic call centre service Van Mitra has been enabled to communicate reports of successes, complaints and suggestions from the public related to CAMPA to the officials concerned.
Since 2009-10 Uttarakhand CAMPA has been assisting in execution of various works related to compensatory plantation, avenue plantation, soil and water conservation, forest and wildlife conservation, construction of protection walls to mitigate human-wildlife conflict and Van Panchayat works. Money received from non-forestry use of land after forest land transfer and axing of trees is utilised for new plantations and other tasks. To make these tasks more transparent and elicit public support, the Van Mitra service of the Forest Department will be enabled from Saturday to communicate issues, complaints and information from people across the State to officials at CAMPA headquarters.
The Forest Department has appealed to the public to also register their CAMPA related success stories, complaints or suggestions with Van Mitra on 9208008000. Swift action will be taken on the information provided by the callers. Additionally, photographs or videos related to CAMPA can also be uploaded and sent to the CAMPA HQ by any citizen at the web URl forestuk.in. The Uttarakhand CAMPA CEO has appealed the citizens to use modern technology to send important information to facilitate forest and wildlife conservation.
