PNS

In a road accident reported on Thursday morning the driver of a pickup vehicle lost control between Kwanu and Timra near Chakrata, causing the vehicle to fall 100 feet down the mountainside. The mishap resulted in the death of one passenger, while the driver is injured and was taken to the nearest primary health centre. According to the information provided by the local police, at first glance it appears that the driver might have experienced micro sleep while driving because of which he lost control of the vehicle. The deceased has been identified as Amar Singh (65),a  native of Shimla district in Himachal Pradesh. The injured driver is Guman Singh (45) from the same district. According to the information provided by the police, the pickup vehicle was transporting apples from Himachal Pradesh to Saharanpur. They started their journey on Wednesday, and maybe the tiredness of the driver resulted in the accident. The investigation is ongoing while the body has been sent for post mortem examination.

It is pertinent to mention here that for the government vehicles it is mandatory for a driver to take at least nine hours rest after driving continuously for seven hours, but the same regulations are not enforced on drivers of private vehicles.
