Uttarakhand Speaker's statement raises hackles in State

PNS

The recent statement made by the Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal about the State Government’s lack of clarity on the need for constructing a second Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun has made skeptics question behind  the intention  of this statement.

They point out that Kunjwal himself has been involved in the various official activities related to the construction of Vidhan Sabha buildings in both Gairsain and Dehradun.

It is worth mentioning here that Kunjwal is said to be close to Union Minister Harish Rawat. The Rawat faction is known to have repeatedly raised questions at the functioning of the State Government.

Though Kunjwal has maintained the decorum of the Assembly Speaker’s post, his latest stance on the construction of the Vidhan Sabha building in Dehradun has made political observers question the reason for this.

Kunjwal was involved in the process of the construction of the new Assembly buildings at Gairsain in Chamoli district and Raipur in Dehradun

but has now started expressing doubts.

He had recently expressed dissatisfaction at the slow pace of work at Gairsain and has now questioned the reason for constructing a second Assembly building in Dehradun.
