The Uttarakhand police are clueless over inflammatory Facebook post that showed controversial photographs of Hindu God and Goddess as reported in Udham Singh Nagar recently. Moreover, local residents in Udham Singh Nagar had staged protest and demanded arrest of the accused who uploaded the inflammatory Facebook post that showed objectionable photos.

In another incident in Udham Singh Nagar on Tuesday, police had called a youth for interrogation allegedly uploading some objectionable statements directing at a particular community but later police released with warning after both the parties compromised over this issue.

The inflammatory facebook post that showed objectionable came into picture in two recent incidents in Udham Singh Nagar district in the back drop of recent communal tension in Saharanpur district.

In Bajpur incident, police claimed that a fake profile was created by a person from United State of America on the social media platform under fake name.

However, taking cognisance of a complaint registered by local resident Prashant Chaudhary, an FIR has been lodged under IT Act against unidentified persons in the Bajpur Police Station on Thursday.

Udham Singh Nagar SP (Rural) Devendra Tincha said that surveillance teams are assigned to solve this case. During investigation, it has been revealed that a person who lives in overseas had developed a fake profile on the social media platform under fake name and uploaded inflammatory pictures. Same case was reported in Vilaspur, Chhatisgarh five days ago and a case under IT Act was registered against unidentified person there.

He further said that as accused of this case belongs to oversea, a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Information and Technology, Government of India for further action.

The police officer further said that in view of recent communal tensions between two communities at Saharanpur in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, police are also watching the social media sites and they have been directed to monitor the situation closely.

He appealed to the youth not to upload any controversial photographs or statements on the internet which may create communal tensions at various places within the district. People were also urged not to believe in controversial statements or pictures uploaded by anti-social elements on the internet.
