Uncertainty prevails over who will be the next Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee head. The incumbent, Yashpal Arya is also a cabinet minister and senior party leaders including cabinet ministers have often said that he should be replaced on the post so that the next PCC chief can dedicate more time to party affairs than Arya.
Talking to The Pioneer Arya, who had come to participate in Holi Milan programme organised at chief minister's residence on Tuesday, has categorically said that he is obedient worker of congress so it is not my cup of tea.
As long as party wants he will continue his post so it entirely depends upon party high command. As far as appointment of new PCC president is concerned then he himself learnt through media that such thing is going to happen.
Chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, who had organised Holi Milan programme at his residence and made arrangement of large amount of marigold and rose petals as a part of herbal Holi on Tuesday evening, out rightly rejected to comment on it. He said that we have gathered here to celebrate Holi so you talk about Holi only. By saying this he skirted media query on it and threw handful marigold petals over media persons.
Sources revealed that party has won general election-2009 and Assembly election under the able leadership of Yashpal Arya, so party high command will have to think twice before reaching on conclusion. If we believe on unconfirmed report then Garhwal MP Satpal Maharaj is running ahead in race of PCC president. Sources further said that state is going to face local bodies' election next month so it would be difficult for the new president to motivate the party workers.
During inception of Vijay Bahuguna as chief minister of Uttarakhand after Assembly election-2012, Arya had played pivotal role and stood along with Bahuguna all the time. Due to this Bahuguna and Arya have good rapport with each other. Seeing this rapport, opposition within the party who could not swallow this pair; have quite often talked against the Chief Minister and PCC president.
In this perspective, if party high command makes change then PCC president, which plays crucial role during distribution of ticket and canvassing for election, may face adverse situation in the forthcoming election.
