Uttarakhand lodge-cum-emporium at Navi Mumbai soon

PNS

An Uttarakhand lodge-cum-emporium will be constructed at Navi Mumbai in PPP mode. Also, a potable water cluster scheme will be set up in Mehuwala in Dehradun.

For this, PPP cell is going to issue a Request for Project (RFP) for and also appointing a transaction officer. A Project Development Fund of Rs 2 Crore has been created for these two projects. This was decided in a meeting led by Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

During meeting, they decided to create Project Development Fund (PDF), which will be operated by PPP cell and Chief Secretary would be its chairman. Any department can take fund from PDF to complete initial formalities of any new project. This money will have to be returned once the project takes off. The PDF corpus will be increased later.

Uttarakhand Government got 4000 sq km land in Vasi in Navi Mumbai on lease but the lease was cancelled by the Maharashtra Government as clearance from the Coastal Region Authority took a lot of time to pass the map. Now, the lease has been renewed and construction has to be done within two years. Even they waived off penalty, which was imposed for delay in execution of the project.

The PPP cell of Uttarakhand is going to issue an RFP (request for proposal) for this, also appointing a transaction adviser. Its expense will be borne by the Private partner, who will shortlisted for the execution of the project.  A water scheme PPP mode  for 79 settlements in Mehuwala will also be set up through which 60,000 people will get water through 18,000 connections.
