Padamshri Dr. Anil Joshi of HESCO had meeting with Hon’ble Chief Minister, Vijay Bahuguna. The State Government has announced that there is an urgent need to give emphasis to gross environment product along with gross domestic product as indicator of State growth and prosperity giving due emphasis on Glaciers, Forest, River, Air, soil preservation and growth.
This will be a mission to be adhered by all the State Department and agencies and will be reflected yearly in States Charter of growth. The State will have a nodal Authority under its Ministry of Environment which will take necessary assistance and guidance from institutes such as Forest Research Institute, Central Soil & Water Conservation Research and Training Institute and others.Uttarakhand is the first State to take this significant step towards ecological and environment preservation.
