The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya has written to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat, requesting him that the recovery from Kisan credit card holders of loans secured through cooperative committees should be done once a year instead of twice a year.
It is pertinent to mention here that Upadhyaya had been informed about problems being faced by farmers by a delegation of farmers from Haridwar that had called on him recently. In his letter to the CM, the PCC chief has stated that the farmers will not have to face inconvenience if the Cooperative department or cooperative committees recover loan from farmers only once a year instead of twice a year.
In another letter to the CM, Upadhyaya has elicited Rawat’s focus on the sportspersons of the State. He states that in the past there was four per cent job reservation for the State’s national level sportspersons in government and semi-government organisations, enterprises and departments.
The provision of such reservation has now been discontinued which will affect the interest of players in sports in the future. In order to encourage sports, the provision of government job reservation for national level players should be reinstated. The PCC chief further requested that like national level players are provided free travel in the railways, such players of Uttarakhand should be enabled to travel free of cost in the buses operated by the State Transport Corporation and other cooperative bodies.
He said that since the railway network is limited in Uttarakhand, provision of free travel in buses would benefit the sportspersons. By taking proactive decisions in this direction, the State government could encourage the younger generation to become active in sports, he said.
