Considering the growing influence of the social media and its role in helping form public opinion, the party blog will help spread the message of the party in the public. The Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishore Upadhyaya said this after launching the State Congress' blog magazine at ukcongresssandesh.blogspot.com here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion Upadhyaya praised the efforts of the party's media cell coordinator Surendra Singh Arya, Anil Rawat and Ashish Uniyal towards creation of the blog magazine. He said that in the coming months all the organisational districts and block units of the Congress in Uttarakhand should be linked to social networking to form a strong ideological base of the party in the State.
Earlier, media coordinator Surendra Singh Arya informed the gathering about the party's blog magazine and all the portals linked to it. He said that the purpose of media cell's efforts is to maximise the use of social networking on the internet to bring the Congress closer to the public. The blog will also provide information to the party workers and members of the public about the various activities of the party, messages, various development and public benefit schemes of the government, history of the party and ideology. Congress State programme in-charge Rajendra Shah and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that though Chief Minister Harish Rawat, various cabinet ministers and other Congress leaders have accounts and pages on social networking sites, the blog magazine of the Congress in Uttarakhand launched on Friday is the first attempt by the party to capitalise on social networking to consolidate its position in the State.
