Dehradun police arrested an Uttar Pradesh native from Patelnagar on Tuesday for alleged involvement in murder of a criminal working as a property dealer, Sanjay Nagar, in Dehradun on January 31. The accused has been identified as Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh) native Gautam. Police also arrested Vasant Vihar resident Jayveer who had sheltered five persons, including Gautam, at his home a day before Nagar's murder, said Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Rautela while addressing media persons.
Rautela said that after the incident, Nagar's wife lakshmi Devi had registered a case under IPC section 302 against unidentified persons on January 31. Three police teams including Special Operation Group, Homicide Squad and Raipur Police station team were formed to solve the case.
The police investigation revealed a gang war between gangs headed by Sundar Bhati and Anil Dujana over procuring contract for bricks in Western Uttar Pradesh area. Devendra Bhati, member of Sundar Bhati gang, was murdered by Anil Dujana gang on January 23 this year. In retaliation, Anil Dujana's brother Jai Bhagwan was murdered at his home by Sundar Bhati gang. Police found out that Sanjay Nagar was murdered by the Sundar Bhati gang.
Nagar had left his first wife and remarried a local woman in Dehradun. Narendra, the brother of Nagar's first wife, had threatened Nagar telling him to either accept his sister or give money to her for meeting her expenses. Nagar had refused to do so. Narendra had conspired to murder him and for this, he had joined Sundar Bhati gang. Narendra had provided all relevant information about Nagar to Sundar Bhati gang members. Narendra along with gang members Gautam, Ashok and others had reached Dehradun and stayed at Jayveer's home on January 13 night. But they failed in their plan as Sanjay was out of town on that day. On January 30, Ashok, Rahul, Gautam, Narendra and others reached Dehradun and stayed at Jayveer's home. On January 31, Sanjay was murdered by these criminals. One car and a bike were used in the murder.
The police arrested Gautam from Patelnagar, while Jayveer was arrested from his home. The accused Gautam said that another accused Rahul Sharma was murdered by unidentified persons on March 4. Police have been deployed to nab remaining accused. Several criminal cases were registered against Ashok and Rahul in various police stations of Western Uttar Pradesh in the past.
Sanjay Nagar was shot dead at point blank range outside his residence by three unidentified criminals on January 31. Two years ago, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) native Nagar shifted in Dehradun. Several criminal cases against Nagar were registered in various police stations of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. He was out of jail on parole and had established his own shop called Sri Sri Property at Aishwarya Vihar, Sahastradhara Road in Dehradun.
