The Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (Airy faction) has started preparations for the coming lok Sabha elections and Panchayat polls by forming various committees in the party. The faction head Kashi Singh Airy announced these developments in Dehradun Sunday.
However, political observers point out that this will only fuel the continuing fued between the two rival factions of the UKD. Addressing the media here, Airy said that apart from disaster management, development and maintaining law and order, the Congress-led State Government had failed to deliver on various important aspects.
People in various disaster affected areas of the State are yet to receive any relief from the State Government more than two months after disaster struck the State. Along with senior party leader BD Raturi, Airy said that the dreams which people had seen during the creation of Uttarakhand State have remained far from fruition more than a decade after State formation.
There is lack of effective planning in the State and with deteriorating condition of industrial and business sectors, the employment opportunities are also decreasing while the law and order situation continues to deteriorate. Incidents like the murder of a former PRO of a cabinet minister raise questions about the level of law enforcement the security in the State.
Airy alleged that the State Government lacks any concrete plan for the disaster affected people of Uttarakhand who have continued to live in appalling conditions in damaged homes and disaster-prone areas without relief or support from the Government. On the occasion, the party also announced the names of party members appointed to various posts in view of the coming general and Panchayat elections.
Mahesh Parihar and Omi Uniyal have been made Garhwal and Kumaon observers respectively while other members have been appointed to various cells to strengthen the position of the party in the coming elections.
