PNS

In anticipation of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict in Ram Janmabhoomi case, the Uttarakhand Police remained in a state of high alert on Saturday. The police headquarters has directed all district in-charges to give special attention to the areas which are communally sensitive and have mixed populations. Social media activities are also being checked to make sure that no hate messages are being circulated.

The Director General (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar said that everything remained peaceful in the State during and after the announcement of Ayodhya verdict. He added that the police force would remain in the state of high alert for next few days, as to make sure that the peace and harmony of State doesn’t get disturbed.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Arun Mohan Joshi said that everything in the district remained perfectly normal. “Peace and harmony is in place and the police are on alert and prepared to take proper action in every possible situation,’’ he said.

According to official sources, police in the State is also keeping a check on those social media influencers who are aggressive in their posts and comments.

Some of these people have been marked and state vigilance team and Local Intelligence Units (LIU) have been directed to stay on high alert. Leaders from both the communities have also been asked to reiterate the message to keep peace in any situation to their supporters.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dehradun district magistrate, C Ravisahnkar had ordered to impose prohibitions under section 144 in several pockets of the district.

The prohibition orders have been issued mainly in the areas having mixed population where authorities are anticipating public reaction on verdict.
