Two inmates of Dehradun- based Bal Niketan, the State-run shelter home at Kedarpuram for the orphans/ children found guilty in the courts, reportedly escaped from the home around 3 am on Tuesday, giving the guards a slip.
One of them is from Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) while the other is from Bihar. Both were sent to the shelter home after they were caught supplying drugs to educational institutes and industrial areas of Sahaspur, said SP City Ajay Singh.
Police rushed to the shelter home after being informed of the escape. They said that the duo has escaped after breaking the lock of the gate at the back side of the home.
A case under sections 223/224 of IPC was registered against two shelter home employees-Dinesh lal and Premi Mangal Singh-for negligence of duty and against the inmate duo at Nehru Colony police station, said in-charge sub-inspector Vinod Singh Gusain. A team has been formed at police station level to search the duo. Notably, earlier in 2015, an inmate escaped from the home to be caught and put back at the home later.
