The Shankaracharya of Jyotir Peet and Dwarika Peeth, Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah claiming that truckloads of people were brought to the site of his address on Rishikul grounds on the weekend.
He also said that Rajrajeshwarashram’s Jagadguru whom Shah met during his visit was not a Shankaracharya since he was not heading any ‘peeth’ established by Adi Shankaracharya.
Speaking to media persons at his ashram in Kankhal on Monday, Swaroopanandsaid, “Shankaracharyas are representatives of ‘Hindu Rashtra’. Politics is not separate from religion. The Adi Shankaracharya had also propagated the importance of Ganga river and that is the reason why multitudes visit this mountain State.” Expressing his views on the BJP ideology, Swaroopanand said, “Their’s is Hindu Rashtra and ours is Hindu dharma.”
It is also pertinent to mention here that Chief Minister Harish Rawat also paid his respects to Swaroopanand at his Ashram while on a visit to Haridwar on Monday.
