The troika of Health, Education and Nutrition (HEN) are the basic pillars of development and it is unfortunate that both the Government and society are ignoring these basic principals, said orthopedic surgeon Dr BKS Sanjay while addressing the media persons here on Thursday. Dr Sanjay of Sanjay Orthopedic Spine and Maternity Centre was recently awarded as the best orthopedic surgeon by an organisation at New Delhi. He said that health is not only an asset but a resource for the nation and the people associated with this sector should not work with the soul intension of commercial benefit but their actions should be based on the human ethos. Expressing his concern on rising road accidents, he said the accidents have taken a form of an epidemic in our country. “The road accidents are killing at least 1.5 lakh people every year and many more are become deformed and disabled. These accidents are the main cause of deformity and disability in our country,’’ he said. The surgeon also informed that he has undertaking an awareness campaign on adopting road safety measures to reduce the accidents.
