These school mates have pledged to make the city healthwise green on Gurupurnima. Professionally settled in their occupations at different places when met through social media and recounted childhood memories eating jamuns from roadside trees, the duo decided to give their home land a green cover with fruit trees along Nehar patri marg in Bahadrabad.

“Trees are the selfless givers and so are the gurus, mentors who teach us,” said Vivek Arora who is also an environmentalist encouraging people to use fly ash bricks instead of normal earthen bricks. While his old school classmate Neetu Chaturvedi is a marketing professional in a company in New Delhi. Vivek is a nature lover and wild life enthusiast who visits every year national parks in India.

Neetu Chaturvedi told The Pioneer, “I chose these trees as Kanji( Pongamia), Pipal ( Ficus religiosa), mango, Jamun, Ritha (Sapindus Mukorossi), Bottle Brush (Callistemon lanceolatus), Kanakchampa (Pterospermum acerifolium) and Dalmonth since they do not require much care and even animals do not eat them.” Meeting her school friend through facebook, they took to the green cause on the auspicious day.

Vivek Arora living with his wife and two children in Tehri Visthapit colony plans  further increasing the green cover in the area by planting more fruit trees. “It was a trend earlier to plant Jamun and mango trees along the road but oflate everyone is planting eucalyptus trees or poplar saplings which are good commercial trees. But I wish the coming generation including my children must rear such useful trees which give every passer by in bounties. This develops the nature of selfless giving,” shared the nature lover.
