Amid moderate and brief spells of rainfall that people have been experiencing here for many days, transport services continued to remain disrupted particularly in rural parts of the Nainital district.
All the four motorable roads which have been presently blocked due to monsoon rain belong to rural parts of Nainital. The aforesaid blocked mototable roads of the Nainital district include the Ghirauli- Khairali Road, the Simliya Band-Sanani Road, the Kandadaun-Amgari Road and the Pahariyadhar-Surang Road, informed the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration.
Out of a total 59 roads connecting different parts of Nainital, as many as 55 roads are presently open for vehicular traffic in the district, said Arvind Singh Hyanki, District Magistrate, Nainital.
However, officials concerned have been directed to open the blocked roads as early as possible so that transport services could be restored on these blocked roads also, added the District Magistrate, Nainital. Hopefully, the blocked roads will also be restored for vehicular traffic soon, he added.
But the matter of fact is that following poor road connectivity in the rural parts of Nainital, citizens living in these affected areas have been facing a tough time. More so, even the scanty rainfall conditions as have been reported of late have only added to the woes of
the people.
According to the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration, whereas Nainital city received about 5.08 mm rainfall on Monday, about 17 mm rainfall was registered in Nainital’s Kosiyakatuli area.
Similarly, while Dhari region of Nainital experienced only 7 mm rainfall today, Betalghat area of the district registered 29 mm rainfall.
