On the directions of Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar, transformers of various capacities have been made available at power sub-stations of mountainous districts. In Champawat, Tanakpur, Champawat and lohaghat have seven each. It may be recalled that on May 12, the Chief Secretary had visited Hindolakhal to review the development works on the spot, when he received complaints that if a transformer was burnt down, it took very long for it to be replaced. Coming back to Secretariat, Kumar called the officers concerned and was apprised that there was an arrangement of storing transformers at one place for 2-3 districts.

Taking the grave concern he directed officials that all 33 KVA substations should have transformers of various capacities. He also ensured that if transportation of transformers is done by the villagers to avoid delay, UPCl should reimburse the cost of transportation.
