PNS

Acting on The Pioneer report dated June 11, 2015, regarding a woman from Harrawala being disrobed, tortured and confined in the presence of a cop on a land-related dispute, the State Government has sought explanation from Uttarakhand DGP on Thursday.

However, despite this, Doiwala police are yet to arrest anyone of the three accused —Bablu Rawat, Mahendra Batola and his son. Doiwala CO Arun Kumar Pandey said taking cognisance of the complaint, a case under Sections 323, 504, 506, 342, 354 of IPC had been registered against the accused in Dalanwala police station.

A lady Sub-Inspector had been appointed as IO to probe into the case, he said, adding that she had already started the probe.  Notably, the complainant is now pursuing post- graduation from DAV (PG) College. She is currently residing in Karanpur.

She had alleged on Wednesday that Doiwala police had not acted on her charges against the accused.  As per the complaint lodged by her, one of the accused Bablu had murdered her father in 2005 to grab his half a bigha land. This case pending in High Court, Bablu was recently released on bail and once out, he along his henchmen is bent on grabbing the land in Harrawala, she alleged. She further said she had been thrashed several times when she had gone to her land.
