With the district administration having pulled up its socks to raise awareness among the people to have their names included in the voters’ list, the District Magistrate Harbans Singh Chugh flagged off a voter awareness rally on Friday. Starting from the camp office at Mayapur, it traversed through several crossings of the city. Students from different schools and colleges aside from teachers and members of social organisations participated in the rally.
Chugh said, “The rally is meant to ensure that the names of all the eligible persons are included in the electoral rolls by December 31.
Our special focus is the youngsters who have completed 18 years of age on or before 1st January 2017. Others whose names have been missed out in the voters list for one reason or the other should have their names duly included in the rolls by the deadline. Besides, those who have no voter identity cards should have them duly made to enable themselves to vote,” DM said.
