Taking cognisance of Uttarakhand Chief Minster Harish Rawat’s direction to the police officers to initiate measures to check crimes in Dehradun, in particular, and other districts in general, the State police have deployed three companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel to Dehradun. The Dehradun police have been directed to intensify patrolling in various places, including outskirts in the district.

State Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena said that police are working on several angles to solve  the armed burglary case which resulted in the murder of a 23-year-old person and injury to four persons of the same family in Balawala area on September 10 morning. Several teams have been formed and they have been deployed at various places, including districts of western Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, he said that the Dehradun police have been directed to intensify police patrolling in the city and outskirts in the district. Police barricading has been installed at important crossings apart from temporary police post being erected in the outskirts of the district. The intensity of patrolling for Cheeta police and other police has been increased in the state capital. During the night, he himself is making rounds of some areas to verify the police vigilance in the state capital and police personnel found at their assigned posts are being given necessary instructions.

District police are not able to complete the verification of residents because of police remaining engaged in several events like protests and rallies carried by several organisations in the State capital from time to time. In view of this, three companies of PAC personnel have been provided to Dehradun. District police have been directed to launch verification drives involving the residents at various places in the State capital.
