The three-day programme to mark the 523rd birth anniversary of Jagadguru Bhagwan Chandra Dev came to an end at Rajghat Panchayati Akhara Bada Udasin Nirvan in Kankhal on Friday.
Apart from the religious rituals, discourses and yajna were held as part of the observance of the occasion. A host of saints, including Mahant Mohan Dass, Mahant Sukhdev Muni, Mahant Shyam Sundar Dass, Swami Harichetananad Giri, Mahant Kapil Muni, Mahant Balwant Singh and Mahant Raghuveer Dass, were present.
While dwelling on the life of Chandra Bhagwan, Mahant Mohan Dass said Chandra Dev was a torch bearer of Nirvani Akhara and his teachings are relevant even today.
He was a crusader to find the society on the norms of egalitarianism, said Harichetanand Giri, adding that the saint had brooked no discrimination among humans.
The secretary of Nirmal Akhara, Mahant Balwant Singh said, “Chandra Dev was a Yug Purush. He remained a beacon of light, especially for the deprived sections of the society.”
