Three cases of burglary were reported in two different police stations including Nehru Colony Police Station and Doiwala Police Station in Dehradun in the last two days. All the cases of burglaries reported in the state capital were similar in nature as thieves burglarised homes in the owner’s absence and stole cash and jewellery amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Nehru Colony police station in-charge Abul Kalam said on Monday that a local resident Dwarika Prasad who went to Meerut for meeting his daughter 15 days ago found about Rs50, 000 and jewellery costing lakhs of rupee missing from his home on his return to Dehradun. Police have been deployed to nab the criminals, he added. In Doiwala and Shastrinagar area, two cases of burglary were reported.
Despite several steps being ordered by the Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Kewal Khurana for reducing crimes including burglary, criminals are succeeding in committing crimes and looting cash and jewellery amounting to lakhs of rupees from locked homes in the State capital.
Moreover, after assuming charge of State DGP, BS Sidhu said that steps will be taken for reducing crimes in the state but no such steps appear to have been ordered yet. Increasing crimes indicate that his directions are yet to be implemented by the district police for reducing crimes in the State capital.
It may be mentioned here that for the last one and half months, the crime graph in the state capital have been rising but police have failed to reduce crime cases in the city. It will be interesting to see how the newly appointed DGP stalls the rise in the crime graph in Dehradun specifically and other parts of the State in general.
