TET trainee teachers protest over appointment issue

PNS

Irked over recent statement of School Education (Basic) director Anil Kumar Negi about TET Trainee teachers undergoing six-month training programme before being appointed in Government schools, TET Trainee Teachers Union members protested at Education Directorate on Friday. They warned that they will intensify their protest unless their demands are met.

Hundreds of union members protested at the Directorate against the State Government for not issuing Government order regarding their appointments in Government primary schools.

Champawat district union president Mahesh Pandey said that as per National Council for Teacher Education (NCET) notification, TET Trainee teachers should be given six months teachers’ training after their appointment in Government schools and this training will be counted as under service training.

Despite this, in the name of teachers’ training, the Education Department had deployed 2,253 teachers in Government schools in inaccessible areas of Uttarakhand in September 2012 with the assurance of Rs 7300 as stipend. But most of the teachers have not been given stipend by the department so far.

According to him, they are not going to attend any training organised by the department unless they are appointed in Government schools. They are demanding issuance of GO for their appointment in Government schools and release of stipend to the teachers without delay.
