TET entrants to intensify protest

PNS

Not satisfied by the education department’s decision to release recruitment advertisement for 653 posts of primary teachers, the Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified unemployed candidates has resolved to intensify its agitation. The federation is demanding that the department should immediately start process of recruitment for 6,200 posts of primary teachers.

The department released the recruitment advertisement for 653 posts of primary teachers on Wednesday. The B.Ed. qualified candidates are eligible for the post if they have cleared TET level I and the last date of application is March 3. Haridwar has 180 vacant posts, while only eight posts are advertised for Bageshwar (see table).  The Primary education director, Seema Jaunsari said that only 433 posts were vacant in the department but a provision for 220 more posts is made by the department.

The agitating federation of B.Ed. / TET candidates however was not amused by the decision of the department. The patron of the federation, Yahspal Singh told The Pioneer that the department has released much less number of posts than the unemployed were expecting.

He said that the agitation of the federation would continue to further increase the number of posts in this recruitment drive.

The President of the association, Manveer Rawat said that the education department on a RTI query had stated on February 02 that a total of 4450 posts of primary teachers are vacant in education department but only 653 posts are released now.

He threatened that the federation would intensify its agitation.

There are more than 30,000 B.Ed./ TET qualified unemployed candidates in the State. For these youths this would be last chance to get the job of primary teacher as the National Council of Technical Education (NCTE) has clearly propounded that only Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) qualified candidates would be eligible for being appointed as Primary teachers after March 31, 2016.
