The agitated guest teachers whose services were terminated in March this year staged a stir outside the residence of the State Education Minister Arvind Pandey on Tuesday. The teachers demanded the State Government to reinstate them in the schools of the State. The association of the guest teachers claims that the teachers have worked hard and improved the academic environment of the schools where they were deployed. They also claim that the improvement in pass percentage in the board examination is thanks to their sustained and sincere efforts.
Meanwhile, the education minister met the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat later in the day and put the case of the guest teachers before him. Talking to the newsmen outside the CM’s residence, the education Minister said that a large number of posts of teachers are lying vacant in the government schools and alternate arrangements should be made so that the studies of the students are not affected.
There are more than 6000 guest teachers who are agitated after their contract was terminated on March 31 this year.
The guest teachers were appointed for a period of nine months or end of the academic session on purely contractual basis in the year 2015. When their contract was terminated in March 2016 they started a massive agitation which forced the then congress government to reinstate their services. The order was however challenged in the court which cancelled their reinstatement. The matter then went to bench of HC which asked the state government to initiate a proper recruitment process to fill vacant posts of teachers in the government schools.
The court meanwhile granted temporary relief to the guest teachers working on posts of lTs and allowed them to work till March 2018.
The state education department terminated the contract of these teachers in March this year. The association of these teachers claim that in the election manifesto the BJP had assured that it will go for inclusion of guest teachers in the education department if it is elected to power but the promise was not fulfilled.
