Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) terai-central forest division SP Singh got a pat from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) RBS Rawat for doing the best plantation and related works on conservation front, among all the forest divisions and other wings of the State forest department across the State.
The terai-central forest division managed to get appreciation only after the PCCF’s inspection of the plantation works done in all forest divisions across the State in July last. During his visit to the terai-central forest division’s Peepalparao block’s plot -32, PCCF Rawat commended the plantation and seed sowing works saying there is a variety of trees like sheesam, ‘Jamun’, ‘Gutel’, ‘Amaltas’ to name a few and following the growth of the trees the entire area taking a shape of a forest of high standard. At the same time Rawat also appreciated plantation of eucalyptus clone-1 C-25 done during this rainy season in the plot-57 of the Peepalparao block of the same forest division. More so, he also lauded the efforts of the forest officials concerned for fencing works done around this area.
More so, the same seed sowing and plantation works in plot-111 of the Tanda block of the this terai central forest division also received huge appreciation. After visiting the said area the PCCF said that a high standard plantation work was found in this Tanda block’s plot-111, describing the plantation works as the best among the all plantation works done in 2012.
At the same time the PCCF also lauded the efforts of the officials concerned for plantation and sowing works done in Peepalparao block’s plot -58 in 2011 saying the plantation and related works have taken a good shape and efforts of DFO
Singh and his teas are laudable. It is worth mention here that whereas the terai –central forest division has earned laurels for high standard plantation as well as conservation works, its efforts that have resulted in development of miscellaneous forests in its area can’t be ignored. Presence of over a dozen elephants in this aforesaid forest division nowadays only reflect that impression. DFO, terai-central forest division S P Singh agrees that development of miscellaneous forests has attracted wild animals of late in big numbers. Over a dozen elephants can be seen in our forest division nowadays. They are coming for green fodder.
But it is to note that increasing presence of pachyderms in this terai landscape has also given rise to cases of encroachments in human habitations and to threat of man-animal conflicts of late. However, when asked how does he feel about getting appreciation from the head of the department, Singh says recognition always inspires to do better in life. Now our responsibility has only become bigger after this.
We tried to do our routine plantation and sowing and other routine works on time following the necessary guidelines and it has helped us achieved some success in this direction, he maintained.
As the officials concerned informed the state forest department is now also going to recommend name of the DFO of the terai-central forest division for ‘Vriksh Mitra Award’.In the meanwhile, as the officials concerned informed the State forest division has now also directed other forest divisions across the State to visit the terai-central forest division to observe the plantation works.
