The agitating teachers of the GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology would resume their duties from Tuesday.  After marathon talks between the representatives of the agitated teachers and the university administration on Saturday understanding on most of the demands of the teachers was reached.

The president of teachers committee, Dr PN Singh said that the details of the understanding reached would be put before a general body of the committee on Monday and in all probability teachers would resume their duties from Tuesday.

He termed the discussions with the Director administration and monitoring of the university as satisfactory. He however added that further plan of action would be declared after the general body meeting on Monday.

On their 23 point demand the teachers of the university were on strike from August 16.

The demands of the teachers include benefit of pension, converting the university as central university, rotational appointments on the position of Head of Departments (HOD), benefit of AGP, increase in tuition fee allowance for the children of the staff, appointment of selected candidates in the library of the university, disbursal of family planning allowance as given to the employees of the state government and policy of one person one post.  Following the strike of the teachers an angry Vice Chancellor of the University Dr Mangala Rai had tendered his resignation last week.
