Teachers' appointment: Absentee candidates told to appear before committee

PNS

In the ongoing process of appointment of new teachers in the Government primary schools of State, the education department has asked the absentee candidates to appear till Thursday before the counseling committee.

In the recruitment process for appointment of 2794 primary teachers under the special recruitment drive for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)/ Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates many failed to appear for the counseling process.

The department is now giving time for these candidates to appear before the counseling committee till Thursday and if they still fail to appear till the aforesaid date the candidature of such candidates would be cancelled.

The decision of department assumes significance in wake of demand by the left out candidates that since many serving candidates have appeared in the merit list, such people should be weeded out.

The president of B.Ed. / TET unemployed Federation Baldev Singh Bhandari said that a revised merit list should be prepared after removing the serving candidates. It appears that the pressure of the federation forced the education department to be extra vigilant in the counseling process.

The Primary Education director ordered the counseling committees to seek an affidavit from all candidates mentioning the status of their job. It is learnt that many serving candidates have applied in the present recruitment drive without getting the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) in the hope of getting a posting in a place of their desire. The tough stand of the department however forced such candidates to opt out the counseling process.

Out of total 2794 teachers, 1410 candidates would be deployed in Garhwal division while 1384 candidates are selected for appointment in Kumaon division. The department has used the criteria of year wise seniority of qualifying examination (B.Ed.) for selection of these candidates. The selected teachers would be now undergo an in service training of six months.

The training called Special Diploma in Elementary Education (Sp. D.El.Ed.) is of two parts; the first part is of three months in which the teachers would be deployed in the primary schools while the second part of three months would be at their respective District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET). After successful completion of training the teachers would have to appear and pass an examination.
