A woman, resident of Canal Road has registered a complaint against an assistant teacher Vinod Kumar, resident of Karnprayag, alleging that he had married her in a temple on Rajpur Road while concealing the fact that he had already been married.
She further alleged that Vinod Kumar’s sister who lives in Rajpur Road area had facilitated the marriage. The allegation further ran that Vinod Kumar had sexually exploited her after the marriage while keeping her in the dark over his earlier marriage. As per the complaint, she was married to Vinod Kumar on June 4, 2016 in a temple after he refused to marry her legally through the court marriage system which she insisted. The complainant stated that Vinod Kumar’s sister Malti Devi had cheated her by providing wrong information of her brother’s marital status. The woman had approached the Mahila help line after she came to learn things Kumar had not reached there for counselling, the complainant said.
Acting on the complaint, a case under sections— 376, 495, 506 and120b of IPC was registered against the accused in Rajpur police station.
