Cleanliness drives under Swachchhata India Abhiyan would be launched in the range with the district police chiefs having been directed to make the campaign successful in their jurisdictional limits. Informing this, Garhwal Range Deputy Inspector General of police (DIG) Pushpak Jyoti said on Thursday that things are following the directive issued by the State DGP stressing on cleanliness drive being launched in places ranging from the police posts/ stations to the police colonies.
He further said that the police officers have been directed to identity the places in their jurisdictional limits where the cleanliness drives should be launched. “Sanitation workers would also be involved for the same,” he said.
DIG further said that as part of the measures being taken to improve the law and order, police officers have been strictly instructed to lodge FIRs immediately after receiving complaints from the people. “Stringent action would be taken against the police officers who would not act on this order,” he said. Assuring that police would go the whole hog to stamp out the drug peddling menace, Jyoti said that anti-drug squads would be formed in the districts soon. “Along with the drug inspectors, anti-drug squad personnel would go for surprise inspections from time to time. Besides, the anti-drug squads would meet the school/college authorities and parents as a part of awareness campaign in their jurisdictional limits,” he said.
“Unauthorized mining is another sector where we would step up operations. Besides, we would stress on CCTV cameras being installed at various places like nursing homes, hospitals, malls, apartments and checking posts,” he said.
