Senior BJP leader and former Union Minster, Shanta Kumar on Monday said the political atmosphere in the country is surcharged with unprecedented resentment against the UPA Government and the people had made up their mind to overthrow the Government and make the country Congress free.
Addressing a news conference here, Shanta Kumar said there was a visible undercurrent for a change. “For the first time the independent surveys had declared the defeat of the UPA Government and the dawn of Modi era in which people of all sections would feel protected,” he said.
Kumar said widespread corruption, financial mismanagement, deteriorating law and order, poverty, starvation, increasing economic disparities and crimes against women has got on the nerves of the common people of the country.
He claimed that the BJP was poised to comfortably win all the four Parliamentary seats in Himachal Pradesh in the wake of a strong undercurrent against the Congress which had brought the country on the brink of bankruptcy.
Replying to a question he said those who felt that Congress would win at least Mandi seat were living in fool’s paradise and added that vast silent majority had made up their mind to decimate the Congress. Results of the 2014 elections would be the “most startling” in the democratic history of independent India, he predicted.
In reply to a question about his opinion on Aam Aadmi Party, he said he did not consider AAP a political party. "It was movement against corruption started by Anna and supported by many others including Baba Ram Dev. It took its birth out of this movement. Political parties take decades to grow up with their ideologies and experience in public life," he said.
He admitted that lot of development had taken place in Himachal Pradesh particularly during the days of Dr.Y.S. Parmar who had a clear vision to make Himachal a prosperous by harnessing its three major sectors — hydel power generation, tourism and network of roads. He had rightly called the roads as life lines of Himachal Pradesh.
