The doctors of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital claimed to have conducted successful surgery of a woman suffering from continuous urine leakage with soiling of clothes for the past 25years. She has been discharged from the hospital after the surgery was conducted and she is now perfectly healthy, the doctors further claimed.

The hospital sources said that Sushila Devi, a resident of village Kamera, Gaucher, Chamoli district, had been suffering from urine-related disorder for the past 25 years. She had been complaining of continuous leakage of urine and this had made it difficult for her to go anywhere, leaving her house. Besides, she had to change her clothes many times daily. “After the doctors she consulted failed to cure her, she  was brought to this hospital on  October 29 for treatment. Dr Vimal Kumar Dixit (Urologist, M.S., D.N.B.-Uro) conducted the initial tests of the patient. He suggested the patient to undergo a surgery. On October 30, Dr Dixit operated upon the patient. The urine tract of the patient was repaired in this surgery that lasted for close to three hours. Dr Vivek Vijjan (Urologist) was also present during the surgery,” a doctor attached to Indiresh Hospital said.

As per a release issued by the hospital, such a disorder is witnessed in some females after delivery or after the operation of uterus. In medical science, this condition is termed as Vesico Vaginal Fistula.

Dr Dixit informed that the danger of infection arises due to frequent leakage of urine. “Such patients must immediately contact an Urosurgeon. This disease can be completely treated by surgery. After the surgery, the patient can carry out her normal routine life.  However, such surgery is complicated,” he added.

The patient’s daughter Poonam Devi informed that her mother was perfectly healthy following the surgery.
