Strict action against education officials for lapses

PNS

Due to education officers’ negligence, around 60 teachers were promoted and transferred recently to those schools where teachers were already deputed.

Taking cognisance of this, school education director general Radhika Jha has directed the additional director of Garhwal and Kumaon division to take action against those officials who had committed such mistakes. Some teachers who reached the Education directorate on Wednesday said that they were promoted recently and transferred to those schools where teachers were already deputed. According to them, when they reached the assigned school they found teachers were already there. An education officer said that in the last few months, the education department had released three transfer lists for teachers in the state. In the first transfer list, the education department had released transfer list for those teachers who had worked for more than 10 years in schools located in accessible areas and inaccessible areas under Uttarakhand Teacher Transfer Policy 2013.

In the second list, teachers were transferred on medical grounds.  The third list released by the department was of license in Teaching (lT) teachers and lecturers who were promoted based on their seniority to the post of headmaster. In the first transfer list, around 100 teachers who were transferred in the schools located in inaccessible area from schools located in accessible area have not joined their posts and later department had suspended them. This might have created confusion among the department officials while releasing teachers transfer list in the third stage. The department officials in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions had made such mistakes and education directorate was given incorrect information by them about vacant seat of teachers in various schools according to the subjects. Due to education officials’ negligence, now these teachers have got enough time to pressurise the education officer through political executives to be transferred in the school of their choice.
