The hunger strike of the unemployed physical education teachers continuing on Friday with one of the protesters has been admitted at a hospital after her condition deteriorated.
Under the banner of unemployed Bachelor of Physical Education and Master of Physical Education Federation, the youths have been staging a dharna near Parade Ground for the past many days.
On the day, the health of one of the agitators Hansa Bisht deteriorated after which she was admitted at a hospital. However, her place was taken up by another member of the federation, Dinesh who sat on the hunger strike.
On Thursday, the members of the federation had been prevented by the police from marching to the CM’s residence.
The federation is demanding that the State Government should appoint one physical education teacher in every Government-run school.
The agitators point out that the National Council of Education Research and Training ( NCERT) has made physical education compulsory for students of classes I to X but no effort is being made to recruit trained teachers for overall development of the children.
