In a bid to pressurise the State Government to recommend a CBI inquiry into the sting video, state BJP again met Governor Dr KK Paul at Raj Bhavan on Monday. During the meeting, they submitted another memorandum to the Governor while enquiring into the status of the previous memorandum they had submitted on July 25.
In it, they demanded the Governor to dismiss the Chief Minister with immediate effect, to instruct the state government to lodge FIR against the officer who was purportedly shown as seeking monetary benefit on behalf of the state government and also to refer the matter to the CBI for probe.
After submitting the memorandum, state BJP president and Chaubattakhal MlA Tirath Singh Rawat said they came to enquire into the status of their earlier petition. “We asked the Governor about the action the state government has taken on it. The Governor has assured us he would take appropriate action on it,” he said.
Talking to the media, leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt said that if state government fails to act according to the Governor’s instruction they would approach the Union Home Minister and even the President in Delhi. He reiterated the party’s demand that the CM should quit owning moral responsibility for what had happened.
