PNS

Five days having passed since Mahant Mohan Dass of Bada Udaseen Akhada went missing from a train while heading to Mumbai for medical check-up, police are still stumbling in the darkness over his whereabouts.

This despite the fact that Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand police aside from STF are engaged in locating the missing seer in Meerut where he was last located as per police.   lending another twist to the mystery, police said that the seer had stayed in Meerut on September 9 and 10 a few days before he disappeared. The police are now trying to trace the locality where he stayed to get some clue to unravel the mystery of the missing seer.

Notably, the seer had gone missing on September 15 while he was travelling to Mumbai on lokmanya Tilak Express. Since then the seer has remained untraced. Once the disappearance of the seer was reported to police police teams were sent to Delhi, Agra, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar where they scanned CCTV footages, but to no avail. However, a few days after he disappeared, police claimed to have found evidences of his last location at Anandpuri Colony in Meerut following which SSP Haridwar sent his team to trace the Mahant. The mystery remaning unravelled, police sought  the assistance of STF of Uttar Pradesh. Yet, despite five days having passed, police have not got hold of a concrete clue as to his present location.

A police officer privy to the investigation said that they are baffled over the Mahant having spent two days in Meerut prior to his disappearance. “We were mystified as the members of the Akhada he is associated with said they have not the least idea why the seer went to Meerut and stayed there for two days. However, our operation to trace him is still focussed on   Meerut. We hope to get some clue to lead to a breakthrough,” the police officer said.

SSP Krishna Kumar VK said, “We are still clueless about the location of the seer, though our team is engaged in the search operation in Meerut. We have also asked UP police to assist us in the matter.”
