Uttarakhand police would soon be independent in viscera testing since its first viscera testing laboratory is all set to function from next month. Constructed in Prem Nagar, the lab would be the first one in the State.
Sources at Director General of Police office said that the laboratory would start functioning from next month. Several sophisticated equipments, used for viscera testing, have been set up in the laboratory. Starting of laboratory would pace up investigation of the cases since cops will not have to run to lucknow for getting tested the viscera.
In absence of the laboratory in the State, State police had to send viscera to lucknow for carrying out testing. “It used to take a lot of time in finding the report of viscera testing. But starting of testing of viscera in the laboratory here would ease the task of cops since they would get test report on time that would ultimately accelerate investigation of the crime cases,” said a Sub-Inspector.
“Sophisticated machines worth lakhs of rupees have been set up at the laboratory. These would give results of test within some hours,” the cop said, adding that it would also cut in expenditure of testing the viscera. “It would ensure completion of investigation of the cases on time,” he said. A official at the DGP office said the laboratory would be inaugurated in the by the end of the first week of April.
